International Cooperation & Rule-of-Law Centre

Project Type

International Legal Cooperation & Rule-of-Law Capacity Building Initiative

Date

April 2023

**Project Title:** International Cooperation & Rule-of-Law Knowledge Centre

**Project Description:**

Building on his extensive experience in mutual legal assistance (MLA), extradition, and cross-border criminal justice cooperation, as well as his PhD in International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Dr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah is uniquely positioned to advance a global dialogue on effective legal collaboration. This project establishes an International Cooperation & Rule-of-Law Knowledge Centre — a digital hub dedicated to strengthening the understanding and application of international legal frameworks for practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and institutions.

The Centre serves as a bridge between complex international instruments and practical implementation. It delivers plain-English explainers on key processes such as extradition, evidence-sharing, and MLA, alongside advanced technical tools, including model requests, standardized templates, and annotated treaty guides. In addition, it hosts a dynamic training and events platform featuring workshops, webinars, and recorded sessions to enhance professional capacity across borders.

The platform also acts as a repository for Dr. Akutah’s research, scholarly commentaries, and policy analyses, providing valuable insights into contemporary challenges in international criminal justice. A secure institutional contact portal encourages collaboration with government agencies, universities, and international organizations while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols.

Through measurable outcomes such as resource downloads, training participation, and policy citations, the Centre aims to elevate standards of international legal cooperation, build institutional capacity, and contribute meaningfully to the global rule-of-law ecosystem.
